Problem

A global retail group needed to process sales data with greater frequency, updating the data warehouse every 15 minutes. This involved migrating data to the data warehouse, directly capturing sales from the store POS and Digital Sources, and ensuring equivalence and understanding of concepts and features between different data models, corporate and local systems.

Solution

Closer leveraged Google Cloud Platform to create a pipeline that automated the process of generating sales data models in the data warehouse. This involved using Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub to develop a seamless integration process that handled frequent data updates every 15 minutes, ensuring consistency and reliability across various systems and analytics tables.

Results

The successful migration of the retail group’s data models to the local Portuguese and Corporate data warehouses enabled more frequent and timely updates. This improvement provided better data quality, more control over information flow integration, and enhanced business advantages through quicker access to accurate sales information, customer experience and revenue.
